Documentation and Marketing Content Specialist

EEG is a privately-owned media technology company with customers including nearly all of the largest broadcasting, cable, and OTT/streaming media players in the United States. Our primary focus is video accessibility in the form of closed captions, benefiting the deaf and hard-of-hearing, language learners, and anyone who has ever watched a video on “mute.” Our pioneering role in IP-based live captioning systems was recognized when EEG received a Science & Technology Emmy® award in 2015.


We have a talented and growing staff focusing on fast-paced solutions to customer-focused challenges such as new ultra-HD and IP-driven media formats, artificial intelligence and automation, and migration of video production technology to cloud-powered platforms and workflows.

The Documentation and Marketing Content Specialist position is open at either of EEG's offices - the company headquarters in Farmingdale, NY or the R&D hub in the DUMBO neighborhood of downtown Brooklyn.


Job Description

EEG is seeking a Documentation & Marketing Content Specialist to create high-quality technical documentation and marketing materials for our industry-leading accessibility technology products.

The Documentation & Marketing Content Specialist will have a unique opportunity to combine skills in technical writing, persuasive writing, information organization, and graphic design to create appealing and easy-to-understand material ranging from information for prospective customers on the benefits of EEG technology products to hands-on how-to documentation for product installation and maintenance. Creative use of physical and digital media is encouraged in service of EEG’s goal to create a satisfying full-lifecycle User Experience for every phase of the customer relationship.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and updating tutorials, product manuals, how-to documents, FAQs, and technology ecosystem diagrams designed for public consumption through print and web
  • Library management of new and existing content with the goal of easy navigability for both internal and external audiences Content for company website including product descriptions, explainer diagrams, and general blogging
  • Contributions to scripting and design for webinars and in-person tutorial events
  • Conceptual design of improved customer experience through identification of missing or outdated documentation, issues with information organization, or existence of conflicting sources of information
  • Management of stakeholder input from internal Technical Support, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
  • Professional experience preferred in one or more of the following fields: technical writing, graphic design, technical support / IT help desk, B2B marketing, web design, UX, or any experience in the audio/video production industry
  • Strong writing skills in English (send a sample of business or technical writing if possible)
  • Basic graphic design skills - knowing your way around Adobe Photoshop and a block diagram tool such as Visio will be required (send sample work or a portfolio if possible)
  • Ability to communicate with expert software and video engineers and then relay technical information in an easy-to-understand and appealing package for less technical audiences
  • “Librarian” mentality - an enthusiasm for keeping information tidy and organized and satisfaction in helping others find what they need to do their job today

Pay and Benefits

$45K - $65K annual base salary depending on experience, with additional annual bonus of 5-20% based on individual, team, and company performance
